Our Affiliation with Oregon State University

What is an Affiliate?

To be affiliated means to be linked or connected to another company or association. Some of the Girls on the Run councils are independent 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organizations but our program is unique in that we are affiliated with Oregon State University College of Public Health and Human Sciences.  As an affiliate, the College of Public Health and Human Sciences played a key role in the establishment of the Willamette Valley program. They also continue to play a crucial part in the delivery of the program and serve as an agent for financial support and funding.

College of Public Health and Human Sciences

As the fourth largest college of OSU, there are more than 100 faculty members, 2600 undergraduate and 200 graduate students dedicated to teaching, research, and development of outreach programs. The college is committed to “Taking Care of Life,” or responding to the challenging issues facing us today including inactive lifestyles, optimal nutrition for health, disease prevention, and improvement of the lives for at-risk adults and children. Girls on the Run is just one of the many outreach programs that the college offers to meet these problems and enhance the lives and health of individuals, families, and communities in Oregon.
