Site Liaison Job Description

Girls on the Run is a character development program for girls, ages 8-14, that uses physical activity as a tool to introduce health lifestyle choices. The focus of the program is on increasing the girls’ self-respect and enhancing their self-esteem and confidence through an experienced based curriculum facilitated by coach mentors. We offer our program in the spring starting in early March. The season runs for 10 weeks, with the girls meeting twice a week for 90 minutes each session to cover 20 Learning Goals.

Girls on the Run Willmaette Valley is currently located in over 35 sites across the Willamette Valley.  Our Council’s area includes Lane, Benton, Linn, Polk, Lincoln and Marion Counties. Within this are we are expanding our programming to include new teams and reach more girls with our message of joy, healthy and confidence. In order for our program to grow and succeed, we require a strong and active commitment from our local site partners. The following things are required of all sites interested in becoming a Girls on the Run Willamette Valley location:

Site Requirements

Basically, you need

  • Space (to run and for activities - can be a school, park, community center, etc),
  • Approval (from school or site administration) and
  • People (2-3 Coaches to lead practices and a Site Liaison to coordinate the team).

We are happy to help guide you through the application process if you have questions.  Girls on the Run Willamette Valley is responsible for training, communicating with, and providing all the materials your coaches will need to confidently implement the program.

To start a site application, first identify a Site Liaison.  A Site Liaison for each school is responsible for communicating with the GOTR Program Coordinator, identifying days and times of programming and helping to publicize the program at their location. Site Liaisons also work with interested members of their community to recruit 2-3 volunteer coaches.

2016-2017  Site Application

Before starting your site application please review the information required to complete the application. Site Application FAQ's.  The online application must be completed at one time because incomplete applications can not be saved with our online tool.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, we receive more site applications than we currently have the capacity to serve. Sites able to provide all 3 volunteer coaches at the time of their application will receive priority consideration, as one of our biggest challenges to growth is staffing teams with committed, reliable volunteers. We will review site applications on a rolling basis

Sites that we will not be able to accommodate for the current period will be considered for the following season.

For new sites located outside Lane, Benton, Linn, Polk, Lincoln and Marion counties, please see information about starting a new Girls on the Run Council.  Click here
